Tivoli: A Roman Day Trip

Published by tavernatravels on

Tivoli, a city in the Lazio region, is home to two beautiful gardens: Villa d’Este and Villa Adriana. It is accessible from Rome by various modes of transportation. The cheapest and easiest method, if driving is not an option, it to take the metro line B to the Ponte Mammal station, where the local blue Cotral bus runs frequently to and from Tivoli. On my visit to Tivoli in 2011 I had the opportunity to visit Villa de’s, and it was definitely worth the trip.

For more information on the history of the villas you can check out Rick Steve’s description here.

Please note the following:

– Villa d’Este is closed on Mondays

– Both villas accept the Roma Pass

Following our visit we ate at one of the most delicious Italian restaurants with the coziest basement seating. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to recall the name of the restaurant but if you are nearby Garibaldi Piazza it couldn’t hurt to check out the nearby restaurants!
