In my opinion, Mui Ne is one of Vietnam’s hidden gems. Before arriving in Vietnam, I had never seen it mentioned on any sample itineraries, and it was not until I bought my open bus ticket and spoke with fellow travelers that I decided to make a quick stop. Although you don’t need a lot of time to enjoy the city, it is definitely worth a visit to check out the incredible sand dunes.
The sunrise tour costs $7 (price subject to change) and lasts approximately 5 hours. Departing your accommodation at 4:30am, you will visit the white sand dunes, the red sand dunes, a fishing village, and the fairy stream. At the fairy stream you will have the opportunity to ride an ostrich if you so desire (I was very hesitant at first for moral reasons, but was ultimately persuaded). It is definitely worth going on the early tour seeing as the sand becomes incredibly hot by 7am. Because the tour leaves early you should try your best to get a good night of sleep beforehand so you can get the most out of it!
If you are looking for a fun place to stay check out the Backpacker Village. This hostel offers both dorm and private rooms at a reasonable price and offers its guests a lovely pool to cool off and relax in after the morning tour. Check out their website here for more info!
