Looking for the best Tulum restaurants for your trip to Mexico? You’ve come to the right place!

If you’re like me and find that you spend countless hours scrolling through beautiful photos on Instagram and Pinterest, then Tulum has most likely popped up on your radar. In the past year many have even dubbed this hotspot as the “Williamsburg of Mexico,” with trendy shops and eateries in every direction. Luckily it’s super easy to get to Tulum via Cancun International Airport! This post is all about the top seven best Tulum restaurants! If you’re visiting Playa del Carmen then you’ll want to bookmark this guide to eating in Playa del Carmen as well.

1. NOMADE (TULUM BEACH)

Nomade Tulum - Restaurants in Tulum Mexico
Macondo at Nomade Tulum

Visiting Nomade was a dream come true for me!  I had been eyeing the hotel on Instagram for a while, so it was only fitting that I made time to stop by! The hotel features two restaurants on their property: (1) Macondo, a Moroccan-themed (mostly) vegetarian restaurant and (2) La Popular, a seafood restaurant on the beach! For me the Moroccan decor wins hands down, however if you want to get a taste of both then I recommend choosing between whichever menu suits you better, and then grabbing a drink at the other!

I couldn’t resist the Mexican hot chocolate (a bit spicy topped with coconut cream) and the Raw Green Bowl. They even brought over some warm vegetable chips to get us started! The dishes were all super fresh and delicious!

Prices:
Drinks 120-180 pesos
Entrees 220-380 pesos

2. RAW LOVE (TULUM BEACH)

Raw Love is your go-to for a casual, healthy lunch – definitely one of the best Tulum restaurants! This cozy spot is located right off the beach, but with the best jungle atmosphere. As the name implies, Raw Love serves up exclusively raw foods.

Since this was only a “mid-day snack” stop for us we opted for some acai bowls and the raw pad thai! Let me just say, the raw pad thai is absolutely phenomenal! Although I didn’t get a chance to try it myself, rumor has it that the chai latte with coconut milk is a must!

Note: Raw Love is a cash-only establishment!

3. MATCHA MAMA TULUM (TULUM BEACH)

This stand has become quite “insta-famous” over the past year, and for a good reason! I mean what is better than an adorable roadside stand with swings serving up a fresh menu? This spot is your go-to along the Tulum Beach strip for smoothies, bowls, juices, and, of course, matcha!

I’m still trying to get into the whole matcha thing, but for now, I stuck with one of their amazing acai bowls topped with strawberries, kiwi, blueberries, granola, coconut, and cocoa nibs!

4. AZULIK (TULUM BEACH)

I don’t think that I could say enough incredible things about Azulik! From the moment that I stepped on the property, it was honestly a magical experience – and trust me, that is not a phrase that I use often. You can read the full details on my experience soon on my comprehensive guide to Tulum, but for now I’ll tell you all about dining for brunch at Azulik.

As Kin Toh, their more famous restaurant isn’t open for breakfast, we went for their more casual spot and we were definitely not disappointed. Everything from the seating, to the menu, to the presentation of the food was incredible.

Prices:
Breakfast Entrees: ~220 pesos

5. ANTOJITOS LA CHIAPANECA (TULUM CENTER)

If you are looking CHEAP and AUTHENTIC Mexican food in Tulum center then this is your spot! Tacos, quesadillas, empanadas.. starting at just 8 pesos a piece! That is approximately 50 cents USD! The items are served bare, with a self-serve toppings area with kraut, salad, radishes, and some SPICY sauces. If you aren’t good with spice then I recommend avoiding the orange sauce because it has definitely got quite the kick.

Because I was staying just a few blocks away, and I am a sucker for cheap dinners, I visited this restaurant three times during my short stay in Tulum.

6. CASA VIOLETA (TULUM BEACH)

Looking to dine with a view? Casa Violeta is the spot for you! This open restaurant gives you direct access to the beautiful Tulum beaches! Also, because it is a bit far down the beach road, it is going to be a lot less busy than more popular restaurants like Coco Tulum and Posada Margherita!

Pro Tip: Go for the fresh ceviche! This restaurant definitely serves some of the best that I’ve had!

7. HABITAS

I had the opportunity to tour this property and let me just say, I could live here! And I don’t mean stay here, I mean pack up my bags and move it! The restaurant, Moro, One aspect that I absolutely love about Habitas is that the restaurant is the only permanent structure, and even that was built around the palm trees already in place! What this means is that everything can be taken down easily, so no footprint left behind.

The Mediterranean Vegan Toast is priced at 195 pesos (~$11) and it is worth every cent! The combination of the sunflower seed ricotta and the avocado spread is just heavenly!

The restaurant is open to public (aka you don’t need to be a guest to dine here). Also, if you spend $50 at the restaurant (per person) then you are welcome to chill out and enjoy the hotel’s facilities. This includes a beachfront infinity pool so definitely an awesome deal.
