How To Get To Tulum from Cancun Airport By Bus
You’re probably wondering how to get to Tulum. As I mentioned above, the closest airport to Tulum Mexico is the Cancun aairport. If you’re traveling to Tulum on a budget, by far the cheapest way to get to Tulum from Cancun Airport is by bus. The most common bus service provider is ADO buses, will tickets starting at 200 MXN ($11 USD) per person. As I mentioned earlier, the closest airport to Tulum, Mexico is the Cancun Airport. There are buses that operate directly between Cancun Airport and Tulum, as well as some that connect through Playa del Carmen. If possible, the direct bus is always preferable. The ADO bus station is located in Tulum town, so if you are staying on Tulum beach you will need to take a short taxi ride once you arrive.

How to Get to Tulum By Taxi
If you’re looking for a faster option, a taxi is always a safe bet. Taxis from the airport will drop you off directly at your Tulum hotel. Once you exit the terminal you will see plenty of signs for the taxi drivers. The 1.5 hour ride should cost approximately 1500 MXN ($80 USD). Make sure to negotiate the price and get a receipt before starting your ride. This will be cash-only, so you can visit an ATM inside the terminal if you need to take out cash. Plus, you’ll need some cash once you arrive to check out all of Tulum’s best restaurants.

If the idea of haggling for a taxi stresses you out, I recommend booking a private transfer car with Sun Transfers. This company is reliable and reasonably priced — with rides from the airport to Tulum city center costing approximately $80 USD, similar to that of a taxi. The driver will be waiting in the terminal for your arrival. You can also use a car rental service if you’d feel more comfortable driving yourself. I personally have never driven in the area.
