How to Get to Tulum By Taxi

If you’re looking for a faster option, a taxi is always a safe bet. Taxis from the airport will drop you off directly at your Tulum hotel. Once you exit the terminal you will see plenty of signs for the taxi drivers. The 1.5 hour ride should cost approximately 1500 MXN ($80 USD). Make sure to negotiate the price and get a receipt before starting your ride. This will be cash-only, so you can visit an ATM inside the terminal if you need to take out cash. Plus, you’ll need some cash once you arrive to check out all of Tulum’s best restaurants.

By Private Car Service

If the idea of haggling for a taxi stresses you out, I recommend booking a private transfer car with Sun Transfers. This company is reliable and reasonably priced — with rides from the airport to Tulum city center costing approximately $80 USD, similar to that of a taxi. The driver will be waiting in the terminal for your arrival. You can also use a car rental service if you’d feel more comfortable driving yourself. I personally have never driven in the area.

If you are looking for a cheaper, yet comfortable option, I recommend a shared shuttle from Cancun to Tulum with eTransfers.
