My mm and I took a trip down to Argentina in January of 2016. The trip was jam-packed with adventure, starting in busy Buenos Aires, wanding the colorful streets and eating well. Next we made our way through the many hiking trails of Patagonia. After 2 weeks of action we were ready to chill out in the land of the Malbec, and visit the best wineries in Mendoza. We opted to stay centrally in Chacras, at an adorable B&B Parador del Angel. With friendly hosts, fast wifi included, and a pool – this place was truly perfect.
After some research we decided on three best wineries in Mendoza for our self-guided vineyard tour: Clos de Chacras, Bodega Alta Vista, and Bodega Pulmary.
The Best Wineries in Mendoza
Clos de Chacras
A family owned winery, Clos de Chacras was the first stop on our Mendoza vineyard tour. The grounds are beautiful, with the property dating back to 1987. The buildings possess a warm red hue and the outdoor seating overlooks a lovely pond. We had a very delicious, multiple course meal, with some perfectly paired wines. After lunch you will be taken on a tour of the wine making facilities. Make sure to make a reservation though as this place often fills up!
Bodega Alta Vista
Our next stop on the tour was Bodega Alta Vista. Lunch (round two) was served picnic style. While the food was not great, the gardens had a lovely ambiance. Following the picnic lunch, we were escorted inside for a tour and a more formal wine tasting in one of the tasting rooms.
Schedule your visit to Bodega Alta Vista.
This was our last stop of the day and definitely our favorite of the three! Located right in the middle of Chacras, this winery is very accessible for individuals staying locally. Bodega Pulmary produces a variety of organic wines. The winemakers were extremely knowledgeable and personable when guiding us through the wine cellar. He even allowed us to chose which barrel of wine we wanted to open, a little sneak peak of their upcoming season of wines. We enjoyed delicious empanadas in the garden, accompanied by heavy pours of delicious wine!

Horseback Riding in Mendoza
Looking for some adventure? We decided to book a sunset horseback riding tour and it was definitely the perfect way to end our day! We booked a tour through Kahuak and we had a blast! The tour includes roundtrip hotel transfers, a 1.5-hour ride, and a family dinner (with unlimited wine)!
